AHF Names 2019 Readers’ Choice Award Finalists
Affordable Housing Finance
Affordable Housing Finance (AHF) has announced 36 finalists for its 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards, recognizing outstanding affordable housing developments completed in 2018 and 2019. Finalists span 19 states plus Washington, D.C., and were selected from 118 total submissions; projects were chosen based on criteria including community impact, sustainable design, and innovative financing. Subscribers were invited to vote from July 1 to August 2 for winners in ten categories, with results honored later that year at AHF Live in Chicago.
Notable among the finalists is Beach Green Dunes in Queens, NY, developed by The Bluestone Organization and Triangle Equities. The 101-unit, mixed-income rental development brings sustainable, resilient housing to the Rockaway Peninsula and is featured under the “Green” category. Its inclusion exemplifies the awards’ emphasis on creative responses to housing shortage, climate resilience, and community revitalization.
The finalists list features a broad array of project types: family-oriented, seniors, historic repurposing, rural, mixed-use, and more. AHF highlights that the award program is not only about unit counts but about meaningful change—housing that improves neighborhood conditions, leverages new funding methods, and raises the bar on affordable housing quality.
